May 12, 2006 - News: Going, Going, Green
You might expect that only people who work in occupations
that expose them to a myriad chemicals or people who live
adjacent to Superfund sites would be found to have high levels
of chemicals in their blood and urine. But research done by
the Centers for Disease Control and the Environmental Working
Group in Washington D.C. shows that measurable levels of 148
chemicals have been found in ordinary Americans of all ages,
in all places. The measure of pollution in people is called

Guest Speaker: Louis Slesin, Ph.D, editor
of Microwave News

Louis Slesin, expert on the effect of electromagnetic fields
and public health, will discuss the latest research on cell
phones and cancer risks. Dr. Slesin is the founder of Microwave
News, a bimonthly newsletter on the biological effects of
non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation, with special emphasis
on power lines and cellular phones. For four years, Dr. Slesin
served as a scientist for the Natural Resources Defense Council
in the department of regulation of toxic chemicals, recombinant
DNA technology and non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation.
He has written articles in Technology Review, Columbia Journalism
Review, Family Circle, Amicus Journal and several others.
